Samaj Seva Sangh’s Mahila Vidyalay which was founded in 1933 was a girl’s high school but as a social need this institution was converted into a co-educational school and named as Mahila and Nutan Marathi Vidyalay High School. The school was before affiliated to the Pune board and upto 1972 the medium of instruction was Marathi but due to persistent demand from parents, the school was switched over to English medium and was renamed as Mahila & Nutan English High School since June 1972. Now, the school is affiliated to the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
The purpose of the school is not only to impart knowledge through books and instructions but also to help the pupils develop a cordial and friendly relationship among them in a free but disciplined atmosphere.
The institution also aims at molding their personality in such a way that they become socially useful citizens and become mentally and morally strong to face the changing world around them with faith and courage. And today we are proud to note that it is one of the leading schools in Goa providing sound liberal education to boys and girls.
The institution is also proud to disclose that the students have not only excelled in various competitions at state and national level in all the fields including science technology and sports but they have also topped the in the academics and have got top ranks at the Goa Board of secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
